WHAT IT DOES
S.T.I.N.G. integrates a stun-technology interface into a wearable gauntlet for close-contact personal defence and control.
In the grasp-activated configuration, fingertip pressure sensors engage the system through contact. The gauntlet uses tactile delivery without fired probes, needles or pins.
The gauntlet is worn and ready, with an extended cuff covering the wrist and forearm. Kevlar construction provides cut and puncture resistance while preserving manual dexterity. A second configuration pairs finger contacts with a thumb-operated control.
A discreet glove form conceals the contact-defence system within a familiar wearable.
A worn, already-deployed form designed for close-contact defence and control. Its ready state avoids the separate step of drawing a handheld device.
The hand and glove work together. In the grasp-activated configuration, fingertip pressure sensors engage the system through contact.
Designed for temporary incapacitation and control through tactile contact, without skin-piercing probes.
An extended glove-and-cuff form protects the hand and continues over the wrist and forearm. The cuff and material construction are integral to retention, protection and manual movement.
DragonSun’s original comparison brings together four stun-technology approaches: Static Charge, Phase-Induction, Pulse Watt and T-Wave.
| Type of electrical stun technology. | Problems with the various existing technologies. |
|---|---|
| Static Charge uses a static electrical charge to disrupt localized muscle groups. | Can cause undesirable cardiovascular side-effects, such as heart attack. |
| Phase-Induction uses an electrical charge with Phase-Induction to better facilitate the delivery of a static charge. | Does not penetrate deeply, which can make the device ineffective on targets with thick clothing. Requires prolonged contact with target for maximum effectiveness. |
| Pulse Watt uses an electrical charge that creates a neuro-hypothalamic signal that completely scrambles the signal from the brain to the body's motor functions. | Potentially the most effective technology. The least damaging to targets. No reported incidents of negative side-effects. |
| T-Wave uses an electrical charge with Electro-Muscular Disruption signal technology that affects the central nervous system and its signals to the body. | Requires prolonged contact with target for maximum effectiveness. |

A worn, deployed form; tactile activation; and a grasp-oriented interface bring the device into the hand’s existing movement.
Tactile delivery through the gauntlet interface avoids fired darts, needles and other skin-piercing probes.
The gauntlet platform can be paired with different suitable stun technologies, allowing the wearable interface and technology to be developed together.
DragonSun is seeking a company to license and commercialize the developed S.T.I.N.G. prototype. The discussion concerns the gauntlet, activation interface, paired technology, manufacturing and the requirements of the intended professional market.
